Norfolk Fire and Rescue Service is sending dozens of firefighters out to hospitals and across the county to help NHS staff through the pandemic.

Staff have been sent out to the QE in King's Lynn and to the James Paget hospital in Gorleston.

They're helping with testing, vaccinations and doing non-clinical work, so doctors and nurses can get back on the front line.

Paul Seaman, group manager for the fire service, says he's hugely proud of the staff.

He said:

"This is the time that we need to help. We don't know how long it will go on for, but we will be there until we aren't required and we'll continue to help them.

"We all hope this is a once-in-a-lifetime event, but it is the type of event that we need to pull together for.

"I am immensely proud every day when I'm seeing our staff going into the hospitals and directly relieving the pressure on our extremely hard-working and stressed out NHS staff."
