Norfolk drug poisoning deaths dropped last year
70 people died in the county from drug poisoning in 2019
The number of deaths related to drug poisoning in Norfolk dropped by 12 last year.
70 people died in the county last year, down from 82 in 2018. The majority of those deaths (17) happened in King's Lynn and West Norfolk.
Although 2019's figures still show a sharp increase from 2015, when 50 people died from drug poisoning.
The figures, from the Office for National Statistics, define drug poisoning as having an undetermined intent.
Across England and Wales there were nearly 4,400 deaths from drug poisoning in 2019, which is also the highest level since records began in 1993.
