Parking costs are being ramped up at the Norfolk and Norwich Hospital from next month, with the hospital trust facing rising costs.
The Norfolk & Norwich University Hospital (NNUH) says the 'difficult decision' is the first change to parking costs at the Norwich site in seven years.
Prices are also going up at Cromer Hospital from July 1.
The new charges will be:
Up to 30 minutes – free (no change)
30 minutes up to 2 hours – £3.40 (up 40p)
Up to 3 hours – £3.90 (up 40p)
Up to 4 hours – £5.00 (up 50p)
Up to 5 hours – £7.20 (up 70p)
Up to 8 hours – £8.90 (up 90p)
8 to 24 hours – £13.30 (up £1.30)
Simon Hackwell, Director of Strategy and Major Projects at NNUH, said: “Our hospital Trust is not immune to the cost pressures everyone is facing and the Trust Board has had to make some difficult decisions as a result of the challenging financial position.
“It has been seven years since we changed car parking fees at NNUH and there remains an extensive list of concessions to make parking free or reduce the costs for patients and carers with frequent appointments at our hospital.
"We would encourage more patients and visitors to use the frequent Park and Ride service from Costessey which is a quick and easy way to get to the hospital.”
The cost of the Costessey Park and Ride (510) and Norwich Airport Park and Ride (512) remains unchanged.
