Hundreds of police officers assaulted in Norfolk

Nationally, the figure ran into tens of thousands

There were over 30,000 assaults on police officers in England and Wales in 2019/20.

The figures, released by the Office for National Statistics, show of the 30,679 attacks, 10,410 of them resulted in a police constable being injured.

That's an increase of 2.3% on the previous year.

In Norfolk there were 659 assaults on officers over the last year, 231 of those resulting in an injury.

The national figures include British Transport Police but exclude Greater Manchester Police.
