Mayor of Wisbech loses pub licence over Covid breaches
Police were at The Angel on Christmas Eve
Wisbech's mayor has been taken off the licence of his own pub after breaking Covid rules on Christmas Eve.
Aigars Balsevics has been taken off the license at The Angel - and the pub's licence has been suspended for three months.
It comes after breaches of Covid laws were reported on the 24th of December last year.
Fenland District Council heard there were customers drinking without a substantial meal, not wearing facemasks and hugging and kissing each other.
The mayor claimed food was being served as a buffet and all those mixing were from the same house.
