A man has been sentenced for dangerous driving, after engaging in a high-speed pursuit through Norwich.

Kane Vickers, aged 20 and of Grasmere Close, Norwich appeared at Norwich Magistrates Court on 29 October having pleaded guilty to dangerous driving, driving without a licence, driving without insurance and failing to provide a blood specimen at an earlier hearing.

He was disqualified from driving for 20 months. He was also ordered to complete a Rehabilitation Activity Requirement up to a maximum of 15 days and pay £399 in fines and costs.

The sentence follows an incident on Sunday 6 July 2025, at around 3.50pm on Earlham Road, Norwich. A blue Ford KA, being driven by Vickers, caught the eye of police, when he dangerously overtook another car at speed, in a 30mph zone.

The officer followed Vickers, illuminating his lights and sirens, asking him to stop. Vickers failed to do so and engaged in a high-speed pursuit through residential areas in Norwich. He ran through a red light, ignored traffic signs, entered a one-way street in the wrong direction, endangered pedestrians by mounting kerbs and proceeded to collide with a bollard.

Vickers was eventually forced to stop outside of Earlham Police Station due to the number of other vehicles at the roundabout blocking his route. He was promptly arrested.

Vickers failed a roadside drug wipe, returning a positive result for cannabis. He was further arrested on suspicion of drug driving and taken to Wymondham Police Investigation Centre for questioning. When at custody, he repeatedly refused to provide a blood sample for testing.

Vickers appeared at Norwich Crown Court yesterday (29 October 2025) and was disqualified from driving for 20 months.

Arresting officer, Sgt Mike Kerridge said: “It is pure luck that nobody was injured or killed as a result of Vicker’s actions that day.

“The standard of his driving was disgustingly poor and he gave no thought to anyone else’s safety, risking their lives and his own.

“I am very pleased that he will be unable to put anyone else on Norfolk’s roads at risk for the foreseeable future.”
