A man's been jailed for four years after admitting to being involved in a burglary and robbery in Wisbech.

29 year-old Harry Smith of no fixed address appeared before Norwich Crown Court on Wednesday 11th August after pleading guilty to a number of offences at a previous hearing.

It relates to two incidents back on the 18th November 2019.

Smith broke into a property on Hickathrift Field in Marshland St James, Wisbech, in the early hours of the morning, but was disturbed by the victim before fleeing the scene.

Later that night, Smith went into a business on Church Terrace in Outwell armed with a weapon.

He threatened a member of staff and demanded money, stealing between £100 and £200 before running off.

Officers later linked Smith with other offences in Cambridgeshire.

Investigating Officer DC Vicki Homer said: "I am extremely pleased with the sentence that Smith received last week as it reflects all the hard work completed during this investigation.

"These incidents are extremely upsetting to the victims and we hope the fact we have secured this conviction will give some closure to those he targeted.

"We would like this to be a message that we will not tolerate this kind of activity in Norfolk and will not hesitate to bring violent offenders to justice."
