Man jailed for 'unprovoked' assault in Wisbech
The 38 year old approached his victim - a complete stranger - before threatening him with a knife

A man has been handed a prison sentence after an 'unprovoked' assault on a stranger in Wisbech.
38 year old Jason Lowther, of Sutton Road in Leverington, approached his 48 year old victim on Freedom Bridge at around 3pm on Wednesday (March 8).
He threatened him with a knife before a fight broke out, with Lowther repeatedly punching the victim.
Police arrived minutes later and detained Lowther, finding he had a blade in his coat pocket.
Lowther will serve a year and eight weeks in prison after pleading guilty to being in possession of a knife in a public place and assault by beating at Huntingdon Magistrates' Court.
PC Jake Smith, of Cambridgeshire Police, said: “This was a completely unprovoked attack which left the victim shaken up as well as injured."
"The victim showed real bravery and this assault could have ended much worse had Lowther used the knife in his pocket.
“If you know someone who carries a knife, or a weapon of any sort, please report it to us. You could help save a life.”
