It happened last night in the town's Market Place
A man has been arrested in Wymondham after allegedly hitting a teenage boy in the head with a meat cleaver.
It happened just before 11pm last night (February 2) in the Market Place.
The boy was on a moped and wearing a crash helmet at the time so wasn't hurt.
The assault came after an argument between the victim and the alleged attacked earlier in the night.
A man in his 30s is being questioned on suspicion of assault at Wymondham Police Investigation Centre.
Sgt Jason Ellis, of Norfolk Police, said:
“This was an isolated incident however we understand how unsettling this can be for the community.
"Officers will be out and about in the town on additional patrols over the next few days and I’d encourage any residents to share their concerns with officers.”
