A man has been jailed for two years for cannabis production in Lowestoft.

Kyle Dickson, formerly of Holly Road in Lowestoft, appeared before Ipswich Crown Court on Tuesday, 1 August, where he was sentenced to 24 months’ imprisonment after previously admitting a charge of producing cannabis.

Dickson also admitted the offence of possession of cannabis, but denied further charges including being concerned in the supply of cannabis and abstracting electricity.

These were left to lay on file.

The charges relate to an incident that occurred on 4 May 2021.

At approximately 9:55pm that day officers from the Sentinel team stopped a grey Seat Leon travelling along Camp Road in the town.

They detected a strong smell from within the vehicle, which they believed to be cannabis.

Dickson was on his own in the vehicle.

He failed a roadside drugs wipe which gave a positive indication for cocaine and was arrested and taken to Great Yarmouth Police Investigation Centre for questioning.

During search procedures he was found in possession of four bags of cannabis in his underwear.

Officers then searched his home, where they found 215 cannabis plants.

They also seized plants, lighting unts, power units, extractor fans, grow tents and letters addressed to Dickson.

Another address linked to Dickson, in Camp Road, was also searched and police seized Dickson’s mobile phone.

From this, officers found messages connected to the cannabis grow.
