Lotus has announced major plans for an expansion of its site in Norfolk, despite confirming earlier this month it will shed 200 jobs.

Planning documents submitted to Broadland District Council show proposals for a new logistics and production centre, as well as a new office block at the company's Hethel site.

There will also be changes to nearly Wymondham Road and Potash Lane to make the site easier to access for traffic.

It comes just a week after the company said it would cut around 200 jobs, after posting a pre-tax loss of around ÂŁ150m.

However, Lotus argues the new development is needed for the company to expand and develop new cars, particularly electric vehicles.
