Lynn jewellers sees huge rise in sales in bizarre side effect of wearing face masks
Sales have gone up by 800%
Have you been losing your earring backs when wearing a facemask?
You're not the only one - as sales for a lockable backs have jumped by nearly 800% since lockdown for Goodman Bros in King's Lynn.
Jewellers across the world have reported a significant increase in customers having to replace lost earrings during the coronavirus pandemic – thought to be due to face masks being worn when out and about.
Director, Philip Goodman said:
“It has become apparent that an unwelcome side-effect of wearing a face mask is that they can catch and pull the back off your earring.
“Lost earring backs and earrings are an age-old problem. Ask any earring wearers and the majority will tell you that they have lost an earring."
“It appears face masks have greatly increased this problem. Lox can solve this as the earring backs secure earrings far more effectively than traditional earring backs. Customers love the way they lock their earrings in place and how they provide a really affordable solution to wearing cherished earrings without fear of losing them.”
“Since we have been distributors of Lox millions of pairs have been sold worldwide, and we expect the demand to increase significantly in the coming months. In fact, coming out of lockdown we have seen sales leap by nearly 800%. The demand worldwide is unprecedented in the history of selling the product.”
The product was created in 2014, after inventor Gary Bryant wanted wanted to help his wife after she lost a pair of sentimental earrings.
Lox, also sold online, are available in more than 1,500 jewellers including national chains F-Hinds and Beaverbrooks. Goodman Bros took orders from another 50 independent jewellers during August alone.
