King's Lynn Town have parted ways with manager Mark Hughes after a poor start to the National League North season.

The Linnets are 22nd in the table after a string of three successive league defeats, including a 1 - nil loss at Warrington Town over the weekend.

Lynn have won just once in the league so far this season.

Assistant manager Adrian Whitbread is also set to leave the club.

In a statement, club chairman Stephen Cleeve said “I will always be grateful to Mark for stepping up to the plate when Tommy Widdrington walked out on the club without notice to join Aldershot."

"Mark is a tremendous person and gave his all to the job in trying circumstances and I am very sad that it has not worked out as we both wanted at King’s Lynn Town FC.

"I wish him well in his future career and am sure he will bounce back very quickly”.

The club says it will now 'evaluate its options' to find a replacement for Hughes.

King's Lynn are next in action at home to Buxton on October 7th.
