King's Lynn Stars miss out on League Cup as season concludes in Sheffield
Stars failed to make up a 12 point deficit from the first round
King's Lynn Stars missed out on a late bid for silverware at Sheffield last night, falling to a 50 - 34 defeat in the second round of the League Cup.
Stars went into the fixture at a very wet Owlerton chasing a 12 point deficit from the first leg at the Adrian Flux.
Tigers were firmly on the front foot after the first three races, with back-to-back 5-1 results.
King's Lynn made up some ground with winds for Richard Lawson in heats 4 and 5, but Sheffield guest rider Sam Masters secured the League Cup in Heat 10 for Sheffield.
The race was ultamtely abandoned after 14 rounds due to rain, with Tigers winning 101 - 73 on aggregate.
It draws to a close a season of Premiership Speedway action for Stars, although there will be a Championship fixture at the Adrian Flux later in the week.
The club will host the Grand Final between Leicester and Poole, which stands at 49-41 after the first leg at Poole.
It comes after repeated postponements due to the track conditions at Leicester’s Paul Chapman & Sons Arena.
