King's Lynn man running London Marathon for Norfolk Hospice Tapping House
Christopher Brockbank, picked the charity after they gave end-of-life care to his uncle
A man from King's Lynn is going to be running The London Marathon later this month for The Norfolk Hospice.
Christopher Brockbank, picked the charity after they gave end-of-life care to his uncle.
He's one of the 50,000 who's going to be taking part in the event on April 21st.
"It's all going to come out at the Marathon"
The 35-year-old told us running is a relatively new hobby of his...
"This time last year, I'd run my first 10k and struggled to do so. I did it for a bet against my sister, which was about whether or not I could beat her time from last year. After that somebody bet me to do the London Marathon".
"The idea of me running a marathon is nuts for many people. So I thought that would be a good idea to raise money. It's something that's obviously worked as I've raised over £2.5k for the Norfolk Hospice".
"When I finished another half-marathon at the weekend, I was nearly in tears because it was such an achievement. I held it all back, but I know that it's all going to come out at the Marathon".
"I couldn't believe how amazing the staff were"
Christopher said the compassion the staff showed his family all on the day his uncle passed away will always live with him:
"During his final weeks there, I couldn't believe how amazing the staff were to my Uncle Stephen and his family that never left his side. Ever since his passing, all I've wanted to do is raise money for the charity".
