James Paget Hospital in Gorleston has become one of the first in the UK to use a 'pioneering' new treatment for young patients with diabetes.

The Omnipod 5 system is used to help people with type 1 diabetes.

The device is wearable and is paired with a blood sugar monitoring system to deliver insulin automatically when needed.

Until now, young patients were only able to keep an eye on their blood sugar automatically; they would have to administer their own insulin.

The Omnipod also removes the need for patients to have to calculate the correct dose.
