Investigations continue into attempted murder in Thetford

A man in his 30's is in a critical condition in hospital.

Detectives are continuing to investigate the attempted murder of a man in Thetford.

Further inquiries led police to an address in Cambridge last night, Monday 11 March 2024, where a woman aged in her 30s was arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender.

She was taken to Bury St Edmunds Police Investigation Centre for questioning where she remains.

The victim, a man in his 30s, sustained multiple stab wounds in the incident in Bury Road at around 11.45am on Sunday 10 March 2024.

He remains in a critical condition in Addenbrooke’s Hospital, Cambridge.

Three people, a woman in her 40s, a woman in her 20s and a man in his 40s, arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to commit murder on Sunday 10 March 2024 have been released on police bail until May 7, 2024.

Two males who police believe were involved in the incident remain outstanding and multiple police resources are being deployed to locate them.

Officers are continuing to carry out house-to-house enquiries in the area and delivering leaflets to homes encouraging people to contact us through our Major Investigation Public Portal (MIPP) with any information that could help the investigation, however insignificant it might seem.

Bury Road was closed for a time but has since re-opened. A seal remains in place at a property in Amulet Close while investigations continue.

Detectives believe those involved were known to each other.
