Great Yarmouth's Herring Bridge will officially open today (Thursday 1st February).

Around £120 million has been spent on the new crossing, which links the A47 to the port and enterprise zone via South Denes Road.

Construction began on the project back in January 2021.

It's hoped the project will ease traffic congestion on local roads and attract more investment into the town.

Councillor Graham Plant, cabinet member for highways, infrastructure and transport said: "The bridge will be an important link between Great Yarmouth and Gorleston which will improve links through the area, transform travel across the town and provide a massive economic boost to our region.”

An official opening ceremony will take place this morning, before the bridge is opened to traffic and members of the public.
