Police in Great Yarmouth have issued a warning, after groups of teenagers were seen jumping from Gorleston's South Pier in recent days.

It comes as hot summer weather has left many people searching for ways to cool off.

Norfolk Police say they've had a number of reports of it happened in the early evenings, with the force saying the Pier is surrounded by hazards like underwater rocks or strong currents.

In a statement on social media, the force said: "Sadly, accidental drownings made up some of the 597 total number of water-related fatalities in the UK last year"

"We would encourage parents and carers of young people to help them recognise the dangers of this activity if you suspect they may be involved."
