Max Verstappen further increased his lead in the Driver Standings

It was a weekend of success for Formula 1's British drivers at their home race of Silverstone.

McLaren's Lando Norris and Mercedes' Lewis Hamilton made yesterday's Grand Prix a double British home podium, finishing second and third behind Red Bull's Max Verstappen.

For Hamilton's teammate, King's Lynn born George Russell, it was P5, with all three British drivers taking home points at the end of Silverstone weekend.

Lando Norris also took home driver of the day, after leading his home race for the first few laps, putting Max Verstappen in between two McLaren's with Oscar Piastri in third at the start of the race.

However, Verstappen claimed back his pole position to lead the Grand Prix all the way to the finish line when DRS kicked in by Lap 5.

Stevenage's Lewis Hamilton may have finished third, but only due to strong defending from Lando Norris, holding off his fellow Brit from claiming second from him.

Oscar Piastri came in forth, ahead of George Russell in fifth. Sergio Perez, Fernando Alonso, Alexander Albon, Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz made up the top ten.

McLaren celebrated their best result of the season with P2 and P4, with Piastri taking home the best result of his F1 career.

Lewis Hamilton and Mercedes also embraced the champagne celebrations, with the seven-time world winning F1 Champion taking home his 13th British Grand prix podium and 14th at Silverstone in F1.

Hamilton's post-race interview credited the fans to much of his success, with all three Brits celebrating points at their home race.

George Russell's P5 could have been impacted due to the timing of a safety car, after a fire on Kevin Magnussen’s Haas forced him to retire from the race on Lap 34 – and triggered a Safety Car as marshals removed the car from the track.

It was also a defeat for Alpine at yesterday's British Grand Prix, with both drivers Esteban Ocon and Pierre Gasly failing to cross the finish line.
