A new school for children who have been through trauma is planned for the outskirts of Norwich.

Developers want to turn Easton House an old office last used by the Diocese of Norwich into an independent school.

The site, on Dereham Road, Easton, could house a maximum of 24 students but the final number will be determined by the department for education at a future inspection.

Alongside supporting children with trauma, the school will use “attachment-based education” – an educational theory that emphasises the link between children and their caregivers.

A planning application to South Norfolk Council said: “The last use was as offices for the Diocese of Norwich. I am not aware of when this ceased but will assume it was relatively recent as the building does not show signs of being empty for long.”

The application has been submitted by Trinity Social Work and Education Solutions ltd.
