Former Norwich City Chairman Robert Chase has died at the age of 84.

His family have announced he passed away on March 3 following a short illness.

Chase was elected to the board at Norwich City in 1982 and became Chairman in 1985.

His tenure coincided with one of the most successful spells in club history, which saw three finishes in the top five of the league and victory over Bayern Munich in the UEFA Cup.

His time at the club ended in 1996, after fans called for his departure over a spate of disappointing on-pitch results.

Chase was inducted into the Norwich Hall of Fame in 2003.

In a statement posted online, Norwich City said: "All at the club would like to pass on their deepest condolences to Robert's family and friends at this sad time."
