No plans to change bus services in second lockdown
Figures show the number of journeys in the East of England has dropped
There's no plans to change bus services during a second lockdown.
That's come from the boss of First Bus, Steve Wickers.
It comes as new figures show bus journeys across the East of England have dropped over the last year.
In Essex, numbers dropped from 42.6 million journeys to 39.3, but in Norfolk and Suffolk, the number of journeys actually rose slightly - despite new restrictions for those using public transport in the pandemic.
They went from 28.2 million to 28.9 million in Norfolk and up by 0.3 million to 15.5 million in Suffolk.
But Steve says public transport is essential for schoolchildren and workers:
"We're in difficult circumstances, like any other business but people are still using public transport.
"It's an essential part of getting people moving around the county and we are working tirelessly to ensure we are keeping people safe and to get that confidence back to before COVID levels.
"With Saturday's announcement of lockdown from Thursday, we've got no plans of changing services as they're still vital for people to get to schools, colleges and workplaces.
"But I would advise any travellers to check our website for any updates."
