Police have confirmed they are not treating a fatal house fire in Norwich as suspicious.

Officers were called to assist Norfolk Fire and Rescue Service at 4.22am on Boxing Day (26 December 2024) following reports of a fire at a property in Caterford Drive, Norwich.

Sadly, a body, which is believed to be that of a woman aged in her 70s, was discovered within the property.

Formal identification has yet to take place but her next of kin has been informed.

A post-mortem examination will take place in due course.

A cordon remained at the scene while police crime scene investigators and a fire investigation team worked to establish the circumstances of the fire, and to ensure the safety of the building.

The cordon has now been lifted.

Norfolk Fire & Rescue Service has confirmed the cause of the blaze was undetermined but not suspicious and investigations have concluded.
