Every jab counts in Norfolk & Waveney
Young people are being urged to get their covid-19 vaccine

Over 100,000 young people across Norfolk and Waveney have received their COVID-19 jab thanks to local campaign.
The #EveryVaccineCounts campaign encourages people aged between 18 and 29 to take up the vaccination.
NHS Norfolk and Waveney Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) joined forces with Public Health and Norfolk County Council to launch the initiative earlier this summer.
Tracy Williams, a Queen’s Nurse and CCG Governing Body member, said:
“The #EveryVaccineCounts campaign has helped to drive home the message that every single vaccination is important and is making a difference.”
She added: “It is also raising awareness of the speed and ease with which people can get vaccinated while reminding everyone – and especially younger people – that vaccinations are our best chance of getting back to doing the things we enjoy most.”
92% of people aged over 18 have now had their first jab, compared to 87% in England. 76% have had their second dose, compared to 70% in England.
This success results from a digital promotional campaign, extensive social media coverage and bus and billboard advertising.
A vaccination bus has been visiting universities and community venues, as well as events such as the Latitude Festival, to make it as easy for young people to get the jab.
The CCG has also been working closely with partner agencies and the voluntary and charitable sector to vaccinate underserved communities, like the homeless, gipsies, the migrant workforce, asylum seekers and sex workers.
Tracy Williams said: “We would urge anyone who hasn’t yet had their first dose to drop into one of our walk-in clinics or arrange an appointment with the national booking service.”
