East Anglia Domino's worker named as fastest pizza maker in the UK
He registered a time of 1 minute and 11 seconds, eight seconds faster than last year’s winner.
Aman Sahota has been crowned the UK and Ireland’s Fastest Pizza Maker.
Local Domino’s Area Manager Aman- who's from Colchester- took home the trophy at this year’s competition, with a winning time of 1 minute and 11 seconds, eight seconds faster than last year’s winner.
Aman, who looks after a group of Domino’s stores across East Anglia, beat over 330 other competitors to the title, following 10 heats held across the UK and Ireland.
Domino’s Fastest Pizza Maker Competition sees contestants make three pizzas - a pepperoni, a mushroom, and a cheese and tomato, in that order – against the clock under the watchful eye of two judges.
Pizzas are judged against quality standards and competitors must demonstrate the correct technique to stretch the base, apply and spread the sauce and toppings.
Once the pizzas are finished, they are also judged against the correct weight of the overall pizza, with penalties applied for the wrong size or weight.
Celebrating his win, Aman said: “I am absolutely thrilled to be crowned the UK and Ireland’s Fastest Pizza Maker.
"After previously competing in the tournament several times, I am ecstatic to say I am finally taking home the trophy.
"Working with and training teams across Colchester and East Anglia has given me the skills and technique to be at the top of the game.
"I’m so happy to have made my Domino’s team proud and to bring this award back to Colchester.”
Aman now has a chance to qualify for the world finals- in with a chance to bring home the global title in Las Vegas next year.
