Dereham man who kept noisy cockerels in conservatory fined over £600
He failed to help find a solution and also didn't attend court twice on the matter
The owner of some noisy cockerels in Dereham, who kept the birds in his conservatory has been fined over £600.
The penalty was given out by Breckland Council, after they received multiple noise complaints from neighbours who were regularly woken up by the flock in the early hours.
Then the cockerel-owner failed to engage with council officers to find a solution and didn't attend court on two occasions.
Cllr Gordon Bambridge, Executive Member for Waste and Environment at Breckland Council told us:
"We always prefer to work with all parties concerned to find an appropriate solution, however we were fully prepared to take formal action after the owner of the birds chose not to engage with our officers and took no action to control the crowing cockerels and tackle the unacceptable daily noise nuisance for neighbours in the built-up area."
