Cyclist raise £11k for QEH
It'll go to the Bereavement Suite Fund

A team of six cyclists have raised £11,134 for The Queen Elizabeth Hospital King’s Lynn (QEH).
Friends Gareth Franklin, Lee Wright, Tommy Treacher, Jeremy Hargrave, Matthew Warfield and Steve Cousins braved the adverse weather conditions to cycle an impressive 100 miles around South Holland, West Norfolk and Wisbech on Saturday 8 May.
The funds raised will go towards the appeal for a Maternity Bereavement Suite at QEH. Named ‘The Butterfly Suite’ by the public earlier this year, the suite is planned to open by the Autumn 2021 and will provide a dedicated place for bereaved families who sadly lose their babies either during, or shortly after birth. The space will enable parents to create precious memories with their baby in a safe and welcoming space away from a clinical setting.
Gareth Franklin who organised the fundraiser, said:
"Thank you so much for everyone that has donated so far for this amazing cause, we are all overwhelmed with how much we have raised. We hit the 100 miles in horrendous weather, but we were never going to give up! Please keep supporting."
Caroline Shaw CBE, Chief Executive at QEH, said:
"What Gareth and the team have achieved is remarkable and we are truly grateful to them for supporting our Maternity Bereavement Suite Appeal. Their donation will really make a difference to those families we care for who are going through their most difficult time. A huge thank you to them for their efforts."
