Cases of covid-19 are on the rise again in Cambridgeshire.

Numbers have gone up sharply this week, with the Director of Public Health and Deputy Leader of the County Council calling on us to get our vaccines.

Cambridge is proving a hotspot, where rates have gone up 217 percent, with 114 new cases reported in the week to 19 June, with most cases in the 18-30-year-olds group.

Jyoti Atri, Cambridgeshire' s Director of Public Health is urging us to get tested, have our jabs and avoid crowded places: "This shows how vitally important it is for people to get their vaccination as soon as they are eligible for it, either their first dose or their second at eight weeks.

"More places are offering vaccinations for those who are eligible without an appointment - and even more are planned.

"But with growing levels of infections in the younger age group, I would urge these age groups in particular, to get vaccinated, and also get tested particularly before they go out and socialise."

Drop-in appointments are available at Horsefair Shopping Centre in Wisbech today and tomorrow for over 40s looking to bring forward their second AstraZeneca jab.
