A new cookery school opens its doors in Wisbech today (17 September).

Fantastic Food will offer a range of courses including Breadmaking, Kids Cookery, Tapas and Wine Tastings, French Bistro Food, and The History of Afternoon Tea. It will also boast a brand new Café, Deli, Wine Shop and Cookery School in Wisbech.

Located opposite the Somers Road carpark in a beautiful Georgian room, dating back to 1722, the "food hub" will be based in the Lawrence Room and Glass Cube, what used to be the Octavia View Cafe, spilling out onto the terrace in warmer months. On offer will be a whole host of food activities including cookery courses, lecture lunches and cookery demonstrations. The venue will also have a cafe with a deli offering local cheeses, meats, and homemade meals and salads to take home. Tuck into a traditional Shepherds Pie served with Buttery Peas or try the Lamb Burritos with Smoky Beans and Guacamole. Breakfast Baps and fresh coffee will be available from 7.30am. Cakes and scones will be on sale throughout the afternoon. Have you ever tried delicious cakes such as Chocolate and Beetroot, Pea and Vanilla, Peach and Parsnip..?

Afternoon Tea, served on vintage china, seated in the window of this ornately decorated Georgian room overlooking the Brink is a real treat. With or without fizz, or choose the English Celebration with English Sparkling Wine.

Alison said:

"I see the Cafe and Cookery School as a Food Hub. It should be a busy place where people come to immerse themselves in the one thing in the world which we all have in common - eating. Food is fascinating; it should be a social experience and there is so much to explore and to celebrate with good quality local ingredients and delicious meals from around the world"

Any profit from Fascinating Food will go to the Ferry Project to help fund the services for the homeless in Wisbech.
