Human remains found in 'no-body' Norfolk murder investigation

Police have confirmed that human remains have been found, as part of a 'no-body' murder investigation in Norfolk.

A property on Barford Road in Colton was cordoned off on Saturday, with excavation work leading to the latest discovery.

Detectives believe the remains are those of Diane Douglas, although formal identification has not yet taken place.

She was reported missing by family members on Thursday 21st October, and officers found she had not been seen for a significant period.

Stuart Williamson, of Barford Road, Colton, was arrested on Saturday. He is accused of murdering Diane between 1st and 31st December 2018.

The 56-year-old was charged on Monday night (1st November 2021), and appeared at Norwich Magistrates' Court on Tuesday, and Crown Court on Wednesday.

He has been remanded in custody, and is next due in court on 22nd December, with the plea and trial preparation hearing due on 14th January 2022.

A provisional trial date is set for April next year.
