Cash machine ram-raid in Great Yarmouth

Police have charged a man with eight offences, after the attempted theft of a cash machine in Great Yarmouth.

Officers were called to Southgates Road at 11.33pm on Tuesday 25 November 2025, to a report that a JCB was being driven into a cash machine at a petrol station. A man was arrested on Ordnance Road shortly afterwards.

Alan Smith, aged 47, of no fixed address, has been charged with:

Attempted theft of a cash machine

Dangerous driving

Criminal Damage x2

Failing to stop for an officer

Driving otherwise than in accordance with a licence

Driving without insurance

Aggravated vehicle taking and property damage
