Springwood High School was yesterday (24 September) informed by Public Health England that there has been a confirmed case of COVID-19 within the school.

Andy Johnson, executive headteacher, confirmed that 65 out of 280 Year 8 students and three staff members were sent home this afternoon to isolate following advice from Public Health England.

They will not be allowed to return to school until a week on Monday (5 October).

Mr Johnson said:

"The children who have been in close contact with the individual who has tested positive for COVID-19 have been asked to stay at home. But the rest of the school remains open and all our other students should continue to attend as normal if they remain well."

He added:

"We know that parents may find this concerning but we are continuing to monitor the situation and are working closely with Public Health England."
