Budget welcomed in Norfolk
It's felt it'll kickstart the economy
Today's (3 March) Budget is being welcomed in Norfolk
The Chancellor's announcement has been described as a 'Budget to kickstart the economy' by the Cabinet Member for Finance at Norfolk County Council.
Councillor Andrew Jamieson said:
"The extension to the furlough is without a doubt, enormously helpful and of course, help for the self employed is hugely helpful. There's a huge package of support for businesses.
"By delaying the time when business rates have to paid, by the time when the 5% VAT threshold will be raised, it gives businesses a chance to get back on track."
Rishi Sunak has also confirmed the £20 per week extra in Universal Credit will be extended.
Rebecca is a single parent from East Anglia who is on Universal Credit and believes there would have been uproar if he hadn't have done that.
The 35-year-old said:
"It's obvious parents and families across the country are struggling, so he did the next smallest thing he could have done and extend it for six months."
