Controlled explosion on Old Hunstanton Beach after device found
Experts and the coastguard were all on hand to make sure nobody was injured
It's been an eventful weekend of Old Hunstanton Beach, as the bomb squad were called to conduct a controlled explosion.
An unknown device was discovered late on Friday evening, and a cordon was put in place, for bomb disposal experts to inspect the following morning.
Police and the Hunstanton coastguard were among those to return to the scene on Saturday, along with bomb disposal teams.
X-rays were carried out on the item, but the results came back inconclusive, the coastguard said.
So the decision was made to carry out a controlled explosion at 4.55pm on Saturday afternoon, and much of the beach was cordoned off for safety.
Everything went off as planned, and when the device had been dealt with, the cordon was lifted safely.
