Body found during search for missing man in the River Wensum

The body of a man has been found by emergency services searching the River Wensum in Costessey.

The discovery was made around 10am today (Tuesday 20 August 2024).

It follows a call to police at 2.30am today (Tuesday 20 August 2024) that a man in his 30s had entered the water for a swim but had not resurfaced.

Searches took place all morning involving police, Norfolk Fire and Rescue Service, HM Coastguard and Norfolk Lowland Search and Rescue.

The family of the deceased has been informed.

His death is not believed to be suspicious, but officers are continuing to establish the exact circumstances of what happened.
