A dozen people have been rescued by the Caister Lifeboat, after a small boat ran aground off the coast of Great Yarmouth earlier.

The Caister Lifeboat was called at approximately 11:30 this morning to reports a vessel called the Shearwater was stuck on Scroby Sands.

The small sandbank is the site of a windfarm and is also home to a population of seals.

Ten passengers were taken aboard the lifeboat and returned to shore at Lowestoft.

Two crewmembers were left aboard the Shearwater to refloat the vessel.

It's understood there were no injuries and all 12 people rescued are safe and well.
