The Bishop of Norwich is paying tribute to two pensioners who died following a crash in High Kelling, Norfolk.

It happened on Sunday afternoon at 4.20pm (22nd December) on the A148 at the junction with Avenue Road, when a white BMW Mini One hit a man and woman, both in their 80s.

They were pronounced dead at the scene.

It's believed they'd been attending a carol concert at a nearby church.

Bishop Graham Usher shared a statement on X: "I am deeply saddened about the deaths of this couple who were a key part of their local church and had spent the day serving others.

"Prayers for all involved, and for the family in grief, that the light of Christ’s coming will illuminate their darkest hour."

Police have arrested the driver of the BMW, a man in his 50s, on suspicion of causing death by careless driving.

He's been released on bail to appear at Aylsham Police Investigation Centre on 14 March 2025.

Officers would like to speak to anyone who may have witnessed the collision or how the BMW was being driven before the crash.
