Six Birmingham fans banned from football following violence after Norwich City match

All six men appeared at Norwich Magistrates’ Court yesterday (26 June 2024).

Six men from the Birmingham area have been given football banning orders at Norwich Magistrates’ Court following violent disorder and criminal damage in Norwich last year following a game with Norwich City Football Club.

Mark Parton, 63, of Northumberland Way, Walsall, William Jordan, 41, of Old Meadow, Birmingham, Andrew Parkes, 20, of Morley Street, Sutton-in-Ashfield, Gary Kemp, 58, of Redditch Road, Kings Norton, were given three-year banning orders. Craig Taylor, 32, of Formans, Sparkhill, Birmingham, is subject to a four-year banning order. All previously pleaded guilty to using threatening behaviour.

Dean Sheppard, 54, of Quinton Road, Birmingham, who previously pleaded guilty to criminal damage and using threatening behaviour, was given a five-year banning order for his part in the violence.

All six men appeared at Norwich Magistrates’ Court yesterday (26 June 2024).

It follows an incident at a restaurant in Thorpe Road on 30 September 2023 when the men were violent towards people sitting outside and customers inside the restaurant after a match between Norwich City FC and Birmingham City FC. The restaurant’s glassware, ornaments, crockery, and windows were also damaged.

In addition to the football banning orders:

  • Jordan was given a 12-month community order and ordered to carry out 80 hours of unpaid work.
  • Kemp was given a 12-month community order and ordered to carry out 100 hours of unpaid work.
  • Parton received an eight-week suspended sentence for 12 months.
  • Sheppard was given an 18-week suspended sentence for 18 months and ordered to carry out 100 hours unpaid work.
  • Taylor received a 12-month community order and ordered to do 200 hours unpaid work.
  • Parkes was given a 12-month community order and ordered to do 80 hours unpaid work.
