Additional Green Homes Grant available in West Norfolk
Norfolk has been awarded £1.24 million government funding towards energy improvement measures in the area. This is part of the new Green Homes Grant initiative and it will be implemented locally by the Norfolk Warm Homes Partnership.
At the start of October, residents in west Norfolk were encouraged to take up the government’s Green Homes Grant voucher Scheme to help cover the cost of energy improvement measures to their homes. From November an additional local authority led Green Homes Grant scheme is available.
Cllr Adrian Lawrence, Cabinet member for Housing at the Borough Council of King’s Lynn & West Norfolk, explained:
"This new scheme is aimed at supporting fuel poor residents to help reduce heating costs and improve the energy efficiency of their homes by the end of March 2021."
Cllr Paul Kunes, Cabinet member for Climate Change and Commercial Services, added:
"Measures available include solid wall insulation, cavity wall insulation, air source heat pumps and insulation measures for park homes. These environmentally friendly options will save residents money on heating their homes and reduce CO2 emissions."
Karen Strandoo Norfolk Warm Homes programme Manager, said:
"Norfolk Councils have done a fantastic job leading the fight against fuel poverty for Norfolk residents and this next round of funding will help us not only to continue this work during this economically unstable time, but ensure the solutions work hard for the environment too."
The Norfolk Warm Homes Partnership, led by South Norfolk and Broadland District Councils, has already made a significant impact on the region’s residents, helping over 1,600 households receive central heating grants, and achieving over £2 million in benefits, savings and advice for households in fuel poverty in Norfolk.
The fund has been made available through the Government’s Green Homes Grant and has been secured as part of the £200m Local Authority Delivery competition.
