£66k for Breckland unemployment project

A project which supports people who are long-term unemployed back into work and training has secured a £66,000 grant from Breckland Council's Inspiring Communities programme.

Delivering advice and guidance across Breckland, TripStart Breckland already has 170 clients on their employment scheme, delivering a bespoke, tailored service to help people facing the most complex barriers to accessing work.

The money from the district council will be used to pay for a support worker for clients, transport costs and programme resources.

TripStart, delivered by Kickstart Norfolk, helps clients from across Breckland at every step of the employment process and back into stable work. This includes help with writing a CV, support with mental health and overcoming isolation, developing confidence in the workplace, simple interview skills, and even providing transport to the interview.

Matthew Page, Kickstart's Partnership Manager commented:

"This new grant funding Breckland Council and the Inspiring Communities programme will enable us to support the long-term unemployed back into employment or training, building up client confidence and pride, with the long term aim of helping them back into stable long term employment."
