"Postive" talks have been held between Worcester Warriors, the RFU and the Department for Media, Culture and Sport following controversial plans announced by the club last week.
Atlas, who now own Warriors, said they would rebrand as Sixways Rugby and partner with fourth-tier Stourbridge, after talks about a return to the Championship broke down,
However, a meeting today between parties suggests there might be hope for the Warriors after all.
The deadline for submitting a viable proposal to the RFU is tomorrow, 14th February.
James Sandford, co-owner of the club, has suggested that they could return to the original proposal to have the Warriors play championship rugby next season.
Mr Sandford said a meeting will take place on Saturday 18th February at 1pm, where fans will be shown a presentation by the owners and given a say on whether or not the Worcester Warriors name continues.
Robin Walker, MP for Worcester said: "I met with Atlas at the weekend and urged them to rethink the plans. I pointed out them how strongly the people of Worcester feel about that.
"I'm glad to say they've met with the DCMS and the RFU today, they've agreed to urgent talks to see if they can find a way forward to have the team in the Championship next year.
"They've also agreed to consult with fans about the name. I think they recognise that they've made a mistake and I think they recognise that keeping the Worcester Warriors brand is important going forward."
In a statement, the Department for Media Culture and Sport said: “We are in contact with all stakeholders regarding the continuation of the elite level rugby offering in Worcester.
Adding: “We meet regularly with the RFU and others but will not provide a running commentary.”
