It comes after several weeks of uncertainty for Warriors, as the club faces a winding up petition from HMRC over unpaid tax.

Tonight (Sept 2), around 75 supporters gathered outside Sixways stadium - sending a clear message to the current owners with banners reading "your time is up" and "pay up and ship out."

Bob Low, chair of Warriors Rugby Supporters Club said: "Last week we were here more as a demonstration of support for the club, but the mood has changed and we are here in protest against our owners, because they're not telling us anything.

"They've lost the trust not just of us, but of the players and the staff, and that's why we're here."

Players have still to be paid August's wages, despite bosses insisting they would be on Wednesday.

A statement from Jason Whittingham said: "I’m pleased to say that we secured funds. We will fulfil the terms of our players’ contracts and pay them in full. This is of course crucial in retaining our talented squad for this season.

“It pains us to have to do it this way, but non-playing staff will receive 65% of their monthly salary tomorrow. We are completing on a solution which would see the remainder paid within five working days.

As of Friday evening, players were still awaiting payment.

Earlier today, many players and staff members shared videos on social media confirming their wages had not been paid and talking about the impact of the situation on the team, their families and the wider community.

In a video posted on Twitter, Ollie Wynn, scrum half said: "So Worcester means a lot to me as ever since I was a child looking up to my dad, I have always wanted to play rugby.

"Fortunately, I signed a contract three years ago with Worcester and I have been here since that day.

"I have loved every minute of being here but unfortunately the last three weeks have taken a turn.

"We have not been paid and I have been made homeless recently. Fortunately for me, one of the older boys has put me up in their house which I am so grateful for.

"It just goes to show how tight we are as a unit and hopefully we can come through this together."
