A woman has died after a crash in Birmingham.

It happened on Great Hampton Street in the Hockley area at around 11.25pm last night (2 August).

West Midlands Police said an Audi A5 and a Nissan Qashqai collided. The driver of the Audi has been arrested.

West Midlands Ambulance Service said two ambulances, two paramedic managers and the MERIT Trauma Doctor and Critical Care Paramedic were sent to the scene.

A spokesman said: “On arrival, ambulance staff found patients in two cars that had both suffered significant damage.

“Unfortunately, a woman in the first car had suffered very serious injuries and despite receiving advanced clinical care, it was not possible to save her and she was confirmed dead at the scene.

“A man from the same car had suffered multiple injuries. He was assessed and treated at the scene before being taken to Sandwell Hospital.

“There were two men in the second car. They had both suffered non-serious injuries. After being assessed and treated at the scene, they too were taken to Sandwell hospital for further assessment.”
