A school in Wolverhampton for autistic children and young adults who have an award winning podcast feel that it's helped to raise awareness and acceptance of autism in the wider community.

Tettenhall Wood launched the TWS Podcast in 2021 and since have interviews sport stars like Harry Redknapp and ex-Wolves player Conor Coady.

Well three years later and the TWS team are getting ready to release their 100th episode next month.

They've won a global award at the Sports Podcast Award.

The public voted for them to win the 'Best Equality and Social Impact' Sports Podcast beating off some huge podcasts from around the world.

The podcast also came runner up in the same award this year.

Outreach teacher, Adam Millichip, is the brains behind the project and said: "We wanted to support some of our students wit their communication, social skills and confidence.

"We found doing a podcast was the best way of doing that.

"I think on episode one, it was very much me doing a lot of it but now it's a lot more of me sitting back and letting the students do it.

"It's incredible to see them grow and flourish."

Alyssa Dunn is a student and the podcast's host, she said: "I love being able to talk to people, I'm not really a sports person but being able to talk and learn about that is great.

"I was a bit nervous at first and scared of insulting them by accident, because I didn't know that much."

The TWS Podcast team are planning to keep going for as long as possible, with more sport stars to come.
