West Midlands Police have arrested a suspect that had fled from custody after appearing in court in Wolverhampton.

The man had appeared before Wolverhampton Magistrates' Court on Thursday (June 6th) on charges relating to drugs and domestic abuse.

After the hearing, the 46-year-old man suffered a medical emergency and was then taken from court to New Cross Hospital.

Whilst he was assessed in hospital, just after 5pm the man escaped custody and briefly went on the run.

He had managed to avoid private security staff during the escape, who had been in the process of transferring him from hospital to prison.

Following two days of evading the police, West Midlands Police confirmed that the prisoner was re-arrested in Wolverhampton on Saturday afternoon (June 8th).

In an update that was uploaded to their official website, the force affirmed the man was back in police custody.

Officers went on to thank the public for their assistance in helping to track down the suspect so he could be remanded in custody once again.
