A Wolverhampton charity are appealing for help in building apartments for fleeing domestic abuse victims.

Their 'buy-a-brick' campaign allows people to donate ÂŁ30 and have their name on a virtual wall on The Haven website.

Work had begun on eight new flats and are being designed after consultation with victims on what they would have liked when leaving an abusive relationship.

The one million pound construction project will include counselling and financial advice to help women and children build back their lives.

Pamilerin Beckley is from The Haven and said: "What we do is not just provide the roof over their heads, it's also the holistic support that they need to move on.

"So, things like counselling, financial support, all the things they need to be able to move on and leave behind their life of abuse."
