West Midlands Police welcome Line of Duty star

West Midlands Police say they're delighted to have welcomed Line of Duty' Vicky McClure to the force this week.

The actress and dementia campaigner visited the region as part of West Midlands Police's commitment to becoming only the second force in the country to be dementia-accredited.

The TV star. who was in the area to talk to senior leadership teams about enhancing awareness of dementia, took the chance to join some of the Birmingham teams out on a traffic operation in Great Barr as they continue tackling road harm with Operation Triton.

She'd earlier joined Chief Constable Craig Guildford at Birmingham Children's Hospital where they'd met some of the youngsters in their care before heading to the Steelhouse Lane lock-up where she got to find out about the force's two centuries of policing history.

The star is famous for playing DI Kate Fleming in the popular drama - and spoke with officers about real-life roles within policing.

Vicky was visiting as West Midlands Police look to become dementia-accredited, following on from established support of The Herbert Protocol, which aims to protect people who are living with dementia or Alzheimer’s.
