Humanitarian aid charities from around the West Midlands have travelled to Turkey and Syria to give help and support, after an earthquake on Monday.

The earthquake has caused devastation with reports of over 300 aftershocks in the areas, and the death toll continuing to rise.

Many appeals are now beginning to grow in the UK and West Midlands region.

Islamic Relief UK, who are based in the county, are on the ground in Turkey helping to recover people from the rubble and provide shelter.

"People are sleeping on the street in cars, wherever they can.

"They've all been through such an ordeal, with many losing family members.

They aren't the only charity from the West Midlands on the ground, with Birmingham based charity Hand in Hand for Aid and Development working in North Syria.

Appeals are also taking place on the ground in the West Midlands, with foodbank Bearded Broz asking for people to send food and clothes to them.

All items collected will be delivered to Turkey and Syria to help.
