Police in Telford have seized hundreds of cannabis plants and arrested one man in connection with their findings.

It follows a number of raids across the town.

West Mercia Police says on Friday evening (March 17), officers carried out two separate drugs warrants at two properties.

One of those - on Mansell Road in Wellington - was found to be holding more than 200 mature cannabis plants, and a 51 year old man was arrested on suspicion of being concerned with the production of a controlled class B drug – cannabis.

During the other warrant, which was a separate incident, the police found around 100 cannabis plants at a property in Solway Drive in Sutton Hill.

For this incident, they say enquiries are ongoing and no arrests have yet been made.

The production of cannabis has far wider consequences often with links to organised crime, exploitation and human trafficking.
